Close to perfect
It's pretty close to perfect for what I needed for my son. It's very simple and I was able to block some of the apps like facebook and such.

Could not turn in on after working with tecknitions
Not for me
Not like the flip phones of old. I've been an iPhone user for many years, but my OG phone from my college years was a Nokia candy bar phone. Wanting to get back to simpler times, I took the plunge and got this flip phone when I switched to Straight Talk. I was fully prepared to have to use the number keypad and the old predictive text for texting, etc. I think my old thumb muscle memory from 25 years ago could have handled that just fine. However, this phone is not set up the same way. It was super frustrating to use basic functions and basically impossible to transfer contact list. Switched back to my old iPhone within 24 hours. If you don't need to text or type anything, don't care about importing any information, and have a lot of time on your hands to set up your contact list from scratch, then this might be for you.

Good Phone but Rough Firmware
This is the first KaiOS device I've ever used and it works decently, however it isn't perfect. There are several bugs and issues that I've noticed, which you wouldn't expect to find in more polished software. For example: Sometimes when you turn off an alarm, it doesn't turn off. When this happens, the only way to actually disable it is to clear the cache of the clock app, which deletes all of your saved alarms. The default music app rescans your device memory and sd card every single time you open it, before you can use it. It won't let you do anything until the scan completes. My understanding is that there is no way to modify or improve the software. It is thoroughly locked down. No CFW options or anything like that, which you can often find in other niche tech spaces to improve the user experience. All in all, I'm happy with the device. It serves it's purposes while being slightly capable of very light entertainment in the form of playing music, audiobooks, or podcasts. It can also very lightly check emails. It technically has navigation, but it isn't turn by turn in the modern sense. Two people could likely use it effectively, but one person would have trouble. The camera is better than it appears. It's pictures are higher resolution than the screen, so sending them to a device with a better display reveals details invisible on the phone display. It has decently capable bluetooth that auto connects to my earbuds after pairing the first time. If you're looking for an off-ramp from your smart phone, as I was, this is a valid and capable device.
Excellent minimalist phone for intentional living.
My wife and I recently switched from modern smartphones to these flip phones because we wanted to cut down on constant distraction and be more present in our daily lives. For that purpose, this phone has been great. Internet functionality is very limited, which is exactly what we wanted. It does support Wi-Fi calling and texting, offers a Wi-Fi hotspot if needed, and includes very basic navigation. That navigation is useful in simple situations, but I would not rely on it alone in an unfamiliar metro area or on a complicated expressway. The camera is decent for what it is, but it is nowhere near even a basic smartphone camera. It also accepts a microSD card (up to 512GB), can play songs and other media from it, and can save photos and videos to it. All in all, it's a phone, and it works well as a phone. It is not a PC or a digital camera. We're very happy with it.
